Benefits of Instructional Design Certification Course

Instructional Design certification is basically a certificate awarded to people who engage in learning the skills required to enhance the overall human performance aspect in the organization.

Instructional Design is a learning course that is generally undertaken by educators and people  in the organizations at various levels- human resource, managers, leaders etc looking for generating in house solutions for their organizational problems.

Instructional Design involves undergoing a training process wherein people learn about how they can create a viable solution for their problem in a systematized manner to get effective end results.

It is a blueprint that involves all the procedures and methodologies involved in addressing a problem in hand through a systematized approach.

  • The principles/theories involved in learning to address a problem systematically
  • The methodology followed to address a problem( how to approach the problem )
  • Delivery mode of solutions as in through e-learning platforms( creating virtual content )
  • Understanding the tools to delivery content( developing software to convert the content for virtual accessibility )
  • Implementation of learning to some project/problem( practical application )

Instructional Design has a universal set of principles and theories just like marketing principles, therefore, it can be made applicable to all types of problems just by customizing the approach of addressing the problem.

It is a roadmap that gives directions to approach a problem in a systematized manner so as to achieve effective results.

Example: if a company is facing problems with regard to performance appraisals of employees and  wants to bring the least performing ones at par with the best, they need to devise a solution that is practically applicable yet systematic in nature and this is exactly where Instructional Designing comes into picture, it sets the tone for addressing any problem with a systematized approach.

When we get certified it means we are now capable of doing something in a refined and conceptually sound manner, different from how a layman would do it.

Example: anybody can cook but a chef is certified in the field of cooking because he is aware of the nuances involved in cooking.

Therefore, to become a master in a field one has to first get certified. Instructional Designer is in itself a profession that can be sought by people.

  1. Adds value to person’s resume, he can tap more opportunities with this added competency
  2. Enables women having children to work from home because it is a virtual program
  3. Bridges the gap between the problem and the solution ie enables people to move from their current position to a desired position

Once a person is certified in this Instructional Design he/she can diagnose the problem, customize the approach to handle the problem and accordingly frame the course of addressing the problem.

So the basic benefits include

  • Learner centric

Unlike traditional learning method, this is more learner oriented because it focuses on the learners abilities and such theories that he can apply in his workplace setting as per the need.

  •  Bridges gaps

Instructional designing enables one to utilize and customize his training to fill in the gaps or loopholes that arise out of limited knowledge.

  •  Result oriented

It not just focuses on the traditional lecture based approach ( teacher-student ) rather ensures  whatever has been taught has the person been able to assimilate it. For this purpose assessments in the form of activities are undertaken only then will a person be certified.
